Touch Controls That Actually Feel Good
Good touch controls are invisible. You never think about them — you just play. Bad ones make you aware of every mistimed tap and every button that's too small for your thumb.
The best mobile games design around the hand, not against it. They keep important buttons near the edges where thumbs naturally rest, and they give clear visual feedback for every input.
Turn-based games have it easy since timing doesn't matter. Racers and action games have to work harder, which is why the smart ones offer both tilt and button options and let you calibrate.
My rule when reviewing: if I can play comfortably one-handed on a big phone for ten minutes, the controls pass. Most games surprise me by failing this simple test.
