Emberfall Saga

Emberfall Saga is a proper time sink in the best way. You gather a party of oddballs — a grumpy knight, a nervous healer, a fox that throws fireballs — and work through a hand-drawn world with a surprisingly warm story. Combat is turn-based, which suits touch controls really well: no fumbling, just clear choices.

The menus can feel dense at first, and I'd recommend cranking text speed up early. Once the systems click, though, the buildcraft is genuinely deep. Battery use is moderate; the animated backgrounds are the main drain, so lowering effects helps on long trips.
